In Service & Administration
The (service) administration and the academic system infrastructure form the foundation from which a high-performance, sustainable university can grow and develop. Digital transformation management should also be viewed here as analogous to an organisational transformation, and an efficient and needs-based administration must be built to ensure the success of this transformation. This, in turn, means that a cultural change must take place in terms of understanding work processes and that the habits that have formed over decades of administrative practice must be changed.
Both today and in the future, higher education institutions are and will be required to meet the demand for dynamic teaching and barrier-free research as well as fulfil its duty to society. Establishing and using digital technologies to offer services that simplify and connect work processes is indispensable to achieve this.
To support students as they embark on a holistic educational journey, it is just as important to develop and use digital software for things such as e-recruiting and e-signatures as it is to offer administrative support through digital applications, ultimately also with the goal of strengthening the students’ sense of identification with the university.
The digital initiatives presented here show various ways that transformation processes can simplify familiar workflows and work to realign the academic system.
